Gosh Mike - I unplug for a couple weeks to focus on the MA proposal and you've put up almost a half-dozen postings! Amazing things happen when you don't have those essays to sap your writing juices.

I'm intrigued by the Mark Forester Auto-Focus task/time management. For past week, I have been chugging along now that I have quiet space (no PC, no contractors for the moment) to "noodle" in (if I may borrow a phrase from you.) It's been amazing to find this quiet space again. From what I read, his AutoFocus might be a good thing for me to do. Thanks for the insight.

Your semester looks full of things that are large and fuzzy, like the PhD. The challenge I had when I tried to think about what I wanted from my Masters was that I didn't know what was possible. I knew that I wanted to find a way into more design work, I knew I wanted to get back into technology, and I knew I wanted to feel as if I had more control over my working life.

It took a year at least before I started to see the landscape. I had a moment of crisis one fall when I thought -- the trees, they look greener over there, what am I doing here? I calmed down. It passed.

You don't know what you don't know until you're almost through it sometimes.

Keep up the great writing and thinking. And here's to a courageous 2009 for all of us.

cheers, rani
