I read Linda Holmes' article "The Sad, Beautiful Fact That We're Going to Miss Almost Everything" and realize that I do too much culling and not enough surrendering. I'm trying to fight an impossible battle. I do practice surrender, say with television: I don't avoid it so much because it offers so little of value as much as I choose to make other activities a higher priority.

For me, the issue is avoiding fear and guilt: fear that I might trash something I might need (really?) later and guilt in not reading all of my friend's email messages, FaceBook messages, blog posts, tweets, voicemails, text messages...have I missed anything?

Thanks for another great blessay.
